Being a gun shop we are often one of the first ports of call for people just starting out on their shooting journey. There is a lot to know and we often advise on a lot more than what gun to buy! Experienced shooters too come to us for help – be it with licencing issues, advice on further training or where to try new shooting disciplines.

We often point people in the direction of different organisations and groups to offer more specialist advice and we decided a list of them here would be a useful resource for our customers far and wide.

Firearms Licencing

Firearms licencing is mostly split into county constabularies with a few that are multiple forces combined. They can generally be contacted via their individual area website portals or by calling the non-emergency number 101 and asking for that county’s firearms licencing department. Timing on licencing varies hugely – from days to years – so be prepared to wait if you are in a slow area.

All firearms police guidance can be found here – but please be aware that each force interprets this guidance differently.
